"fumble then hold to split"
Kate Moran
April 4 - 10, 2021

Artist Statement:
The woods were flanked by fields in that place where I grew up. Woods that shaped the imagination and formed respect. Brambles and hanging vines. Swings over brooks. Yellow pines to climb and witness what seemed to be a vast landscape to young eyes. Developments took hold.
The summer of 2020 was one of unimaginable wildfires. “California’s epic wildfires took deadly aim at the state’s most beloved trees. In a relative instant, countless ancient redwoods, hundreds of giant sequoias and more than one million Joshua trees perished. The blackened wreckage sends a clear message, These trees are in the fight of their lives”. (John Branch the NY Times)
