"Our own Ancient and Forgotten Face"
Arnela Mahmutović December 27 - January 2, 2021 Artist Statement: "Drawing inspiration from illuminated manuscripts, Eastern miniature painting and personal narrative, the body of work in this exhibition is a continued investigation of the histories that surround me. Each piece describes where these influences intersect through my Balkan heritage, resulting in an intimate and shifting relationship between displaced bodies and invented spaces; constructed worlds in which each live as agents of their own narrative." |
